So....a couple months ago I met bead nerd extraordinaire and long time Air Force buddy Jen V at Bead Fest Wire outside of Philly.  About 10 minutes after tracking her down at the Fest's accompanying Bead Bazaar I had spent serious cash, and we were still at the first booth.  Needless to say my all around awesome husband and CFO was shocked into silence when that month's credit card bill arrived, but I was powerless to resist!  The booth we started out at was Na Bo Row, owned by Bob and Nancy Row, who were great fun to chat with, and specialize in Thai, Bali and other Asian beads.  This clasp totally sucked me in, and although it's the most I've spent on any single beading item (includig tools!), I couldn't part with it.

So what to make to showcase this beauty is something I mull over at odd moments and when commuting during the week.  Have I mentioned I am a HUGE DOODLER?  You should see all the stuff I have scribbled in my work notes.  So I was in a particularly DRY meeting and decided to sketch out my two current thoughts on what to do.  I sure would appreciate hearing what you think!

You know what's funny?  I almost ordered beads for this project in green and blue - somehow I remembered the background color as lapis-ish, and it's totally dark gray.

  1. Good Morning,
I am hoping that you all survived yesterday afternoon's mess! I like the second design. I like the idea of using the focal as a tassel of sorts. You could bring it with you next weekend!!!!!

  2. I can't believe how clever you are to be able to sketch your design like that, then make it - I'm fairly creative, but am yet to try my hand at beading. Following along for you (Friendly Friday Follow) and looking forward to more inspiration. I'm still a new blogger but please check out both my blogs (I know CRAZY 2 blogs for 2 businesses) @ http://louandjane.blogspot.com and http://homemadeforkids.blogspot.com Jane:)

  3. I love design two! I think that is a really creative way to use that piece. But it is such a stunning piece that either design will be beautiful.

  4. I so like idea 2 but that would depend on how large it is in person. I love the focal idea! Sure wish I could sketch like that!

  7. I also vote for Idea #2. The clasp should definitely be the focal point!

  8. You are an incredible doodler! I love to doodle too, but I certainly do not convey things they way you do in these sketches. I'm trying to picture you in uniform sketching this at a meeting! :-)
