I found a cool new book on a recent trip to the bookstore. It's called The Crafter's Devotional by Barbara Call. You can find it at B and N here or Amazon here. I am sooooooo excited.
For a while now I have felt in a bit of a creative rut. Unless I have a deadline (thank you Bead Soup Blog Party!) I can't seem to get motivated or inspired. This book provides a year's worth of ideas to try new techniques and think in new directions. Think lots of journaling and mixed media, although there is beading and fiber arts too. I showed my daughter Emma and her eyes lit up - this book will definitely require several trips to Michaels for new art supplies.
After buying the book I saw this post by the fabulous Patty at My Life Under the Bus titled Where Has My Mojo Gone? I immediately commented that I had found this great book that just might help. E-mails started flying back and forth, because we thought,
WHY DON'T YOU JOIN US?
We'd like to form a group of like minded (semi-lost) souls, and host blog hops occasionally to see how everyone is doing. The intent is to make it very low key - more of a support group - maybe a post once a month or so. So leave a comment and make sure we can contact you and we'll send out details to the entire group via e-mail. And I am making this up as I am typing :-)
The big question for me is, will I stick with it? Not sure. But I would like to give it a try - and joining Patty and I sure would help. My awesome husband is always encouraging me to use my scarce free time to play and learn, especially when I get discouraged about doing something - anything - to move Beads for Busy Gals forward. I think this book might be a good way to relearn how to play. Only I would need a guide book/to do list to play :-)
Y.E.S! Please.
ReplyDeleteYay - Thanks so much for sending this idea my way - I am excited to get my book! : )
ReplyDeleteAdd me too! :)
ReplyDeleteYep I am in!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I would like to be a part of this!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the book recommendation, I'll head to Amazon right now and look for it. As for joining in right now, as ridiculous as this will sound, once a month is right now even more than I can commit to, sad huh? Work just has a tight grip on me. If you can keep me in the loop though, maybe when things slow down i can join in!
ReplyDeletei would LOVE LOVE LOVE to do this challenge!! please count me in!!
ReplyDeleteI so need this, add me please, I have been de-cluttering my house in an effort to motivate:-) sandi@sandivolpe.com
ReplyDeleteHi, I just placed the order in Amazon. Can't wait to receive the book. I love the idea of sharing/supporting each others attempts to break their "dry" spells, I know I can sure use it! I don't have a blog right now (I never know what to write) but I am thinking of starting one soon. It will probably be in spanish (I live in Puerto Rico) but I will put one of those translation thingys on it so anyone can understand it. Does that sound OK?

I'd like to give it a try too!
ReplyDeleteSo will you guys be posting prompts or something to get the creativity flowing?
