A couple weeks ago the director of our kids summer camp asked if I would come and do some beading with some of the campers.  Miss Elinor started out as the Pre-K teacher, had both Emma and Michael in her class, and now she sees them throughout the school year and over the summer as director of the School Age Child Care program.  I wasn't sure how it would work, but I enjoy making stuff with Emma so we decided on two projects that would be fairly easy and could be made with supplies from Michael's and stuff I already had on hand...a wire wrapped bracelet and a hemp strung bracelet.  Thanks to an awesome class I took at Bead Fest Wire in April taught by Connie Nabholz, I had a good idea on the wire wrapped bracelet, and the hemp design I figured out while trying to recreate something similar I had seen in a catalog.

Also going on at camp today was a video game truck, so I ended up with a really workable group of about 10 students, all girls, and all about the same age as my daughter.  Even Miss Elinor and the counselors got involved and made some bracelets.  It was great seeing Emma take the lead on helping some of the girls.  What Mom doesn't love scoring some cool points for their kids?  I could have goofed off with them all day, but alas I had to head off to my day job.   Here are pictures of our great morning together.   Enjoy!

  2. Looks fun - it's not quite Summer here in Australia... crafting with children is the best.
