Sally asked us to look for good things inside - surprising things. If I drive to work, this is one of the first things I see once I get out of the car - looks like some kind of mystic portal doesn't it?
It leads to this building - the Pentagon - where I work. This picture is taken from much farther away - photos aren't allowed once you enter the mystic portal :-)
This massive building is full of greater than average bureaucracy and bloviation, and more e-mails and cubicles than you can imagine. But the surprise inside is that it is filled with art. Over the years, the Air Force has embedded artists on our missions around the world, and have asked the artists to document "the actions and deeds of Air Force men and women." You can find out about the Air Force Art Program here - and see some of the contents of this massive collection. I like to look up and look around as I walk around the building, and I am captivated by what hangs on the walls.
Any citizen can too. It just takes a little extra effort because you must be on a scheduled tour and you must go through security. The good news - it's FREE. Go here to find out more.
