This evening when I came home, I went out on the back deck to look at the huge amount of dirt my husband spent the day moving into the bare corners of the back yard.  When I stopped just so, and everyone was quiet, I could here the cheep cheep cheeps of several new baby birds.  They have made a home in the brackets that hold up our awning.

I took two quick flash pictures, holding the camera above my head, and you can just see our baby birds in the nest.  Mama bird was hovering near by, so we went inside so she could be back with her babies.  Mama is lucky that our awning is very old and needs to be replaced, so it doesn't bother us that she's made her home here.  We've had nests before, but never with a family this big :-)

  1. There do build in the sneakiest of places, don't they? Guess you won't be opening the canopy anytime soon :)

  6. I love listening to birds. When we built our house several years ago we had no trees and no birds. Now we have many birds and I can still remember when I found our first nest and was so excited.
