On the drive from Manchester, New Hampshire to Smuggler's Notch, Vermont, is an interesting rest stop. It's a beautiful facility, has free Green Mountain coffee, and has a green house. It's not really a green house, but rather a "Living Machine." It's a system on tanks containing plants and other organisms to naturally clean wastewater. Bet you didn't see that sentence coming :-)
I wandered in while everyone else was taking a bathroom break and saw these beautiful purple flowers. I love that you can see all the snow outside the greenhouse.
We're spending the week at one of my favorite places on earth - Smuggler's Notch. They got about 11 inches of snow a couple days ago and the skiing conditions are fabulous :-)
See more calm here:
I'm sure the trip is amazing! There's no quiet calm for the Aulds!!
ReplyDeleteThe wonders of double-glazing! What a stunning flower :)
ReplyDeleteWe're almost neighbors...I'm in Groton just near MA border to NH! I am going to have to check out this rest stop. I think it's a perfect photo for this week's prompt!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a passion flower and appears to be thriving on the wastewater. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteThe flower is beautiful - I've never seen one in pink before, mine is cream but it survives outdoors in the UK so it must me tougher than the pink one! Looks like a wonderful place to take a break - nice to see someone actually enjoying the snow!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous flower in the middle of winter! Sounds like an interesting rest stop.
ReplyDeleteI'm fascinated by the name "Smugglers Notch" and by the stunning purple flower in the midst of snow! Great post, great piccies.
