Before I got home I had in mind a statement necklace, like many you have seen at Anthropologie and Banana Republic, but with a slightly lighter touch. I don't wear a lot of statement jewelry, so I wanted something that I would feel comfortable wearing. I had a ton of "turquoise" drops I got on sale at Happy Mango Beads, and a huge spool of brass wire, and went to town. Once I got the front figured out, I was stumped for a bit on finishing off the necklace. I guess I could have made a chain out of a ton of jump rings, but instead I found a length of suede that matched perfectly. Plus, it would make the length of the necklace adjustable to fit the neckline of what I might be wearing (or perhaps a new outfit is required?). The suede couldn't be too casual :-), so I finished the ends with a small glass drop and a little crystal. Thanks Lorelei for a great challenge - be sure to check out her blog and then the other folks participating (links posted below).

ReplyDeletea textile (leather) with the sliders! I used a brown leather cording in mine, and love the mix of materials together.
p.s. I have an updated participants list on my blog if you want to snag it, I think there are a few more people on it.

ReplyDeleteLike the suede with the metal. That's what autocorrect messed up.
ReplyDeleteI love the turquoise suede and the lacy look the gold wire give it. The turquoise is my favorite color, too!
