A couple weeks ago, Lorelei raved about these wonderful shadow box enameled components from CKoop Beads:
Lorelei chose 23 random commenters to receive a shadow box, make something cool, and join a blog hop today. I am soooooo excited I got picked, and was thrilled that I received the bright yellow green one you see in the upper left. The day it arrived I got to work - I had a vision of treating it like a real shadow box with a display of treasures. HOWEVER, as has happened to you all, a strong vision doesn't mean that it comes together easily. I tweaked and tweaked and finally am happy.
I used waxed linen to tie the handmade lampwork glass into the shadow box. The three blue ones are from Mermaid Glass, the green one is from Sue Beads.
I made the chain using more of the large white seed beads, but it needed more umph. A lot of my tweaking was making sure the scale of the pendant and the chain matched. I liked the idea of twining ribbon or silk in the chain, and the perfect green grosgrain ribbon jumped out at me on a recent jaunt to Michael's. I couldn't find ribbon ends that fit exactly, so I decided to try simple silver cones and was pleased with the results.
Huge thanks to Lorelei for putting together this great challenge! Take a look at the other great shadow boxes here:
