We're mostly ready to go for school tomorrow, and have most of the laundry done and mail sorted from our vacation, so instead of tackling additional chores, how about a peak at some recent treasures?  (since the sun went down long ago you will get to see awesome indoor bad lighting pix!)

First, I need to say thanks to Amy of Copper Diem and Lorelei.  I was the lucky winner of their recent giveaways so I had this waiting for me in the huge bundle of mail (copper from Lorelei; greeny goodness from Amy):

So, while visiting my Mom in Tucson, I worked in a brief visit to my favorite bead store.  It used to be called ABC Direct, and was an unmarked, knock-to-enter-with-business-license-in-hand cottage next to A Beaucoup Conge, a most excellent retail bead store.  On a recent daughter-requested resupply run, my Mom found out that the wholesale shop had moved to a few miles south and is now called A Bead Circus.  Leslie runs the store and she is wonderful - the web site is under construction but you can reach her at 877-696-9490 or leslie.beadcircus@gmail.com.  I can't say enough about how helpful Leslie was - the kids were hot and hungry and she pulled out a giant bin of glass beads they could go through and pick 5 beads to take home while I browsed.  She even remembered my Mom!  The store is now both retail and wholesale with documentation, and Leslie said that whatever I might need just call and she could track it down for me.  She carries the Betsy Beader line of beading wire so I know I will be calling her for resupply.

So enough chattering - here is what I bought:

I always wanted to try something in labradorite!

Can't get enough of these colors!
The copper beads are actually lucite - so they are bold but also nice and light.  I love the gold and silver crystals - they have kind of a distressed look with the black edges showing through.  The pink crystals  are for a project I am working on for my friend April   She told me she liked these earrings but also wants a necklace, so I have some ideas kicking around in my head.  April is one of the best and brightest in the Air Force, and is full of quirky contradictions - I can't wait to get started on my idea for her!

I needed to make a brief stop at Michael's this weekend and wouldn't you know, they had a coupon for 25% off all regular priced items, so this is what I picked up.  The black chain is for my April idea, and the blue ceramic beads and travel charms are another idea for a badge lanyard for my friend Sandy.

Have a great week everyone!

  3. Looks like fun! I was in Tucson over the weekend, but the only day I had free to shop was Sunday and ABC isn't open on Sundays. I did spend some quality time in A Beaucoup Conge, though. :)
