...but of course that means finishing the current bead project! Super busy week here at our house. After 23 years of dedicated service to his country my husband is retiring from the Air Force - this Friday! (cue patriotic music and waving flags - I'm so proud of him!) Which means that the house needs to get picked up, guest rooms need to get fluffed up, and family starts arriving Wednesday. Since the study/bead studio becomes a guest room, I must clean my desk. But two things needed to get done first...

One...I wanted to finish my first ever entry into the Art Bead Scene Blog monthly challenge (see last post). I am sure I could "talk" for hours about the process, design decisions made, etc, etc, but I just looked down at the corner of the screen and it is midnight, so I'll make it quick. Since I didn't have any gold components my personal challenge was to figure out what to do without additional shopping. I remembered mid-commute last week that I had a spool of blue/greenish wire from a previous project, and went to work. I wanted it to look like it moved (the name of the inspiration artwork was "the juggler" after all) so added some additional beads on wire wrapped squiggles. I couldn't buy "just" a focal from Sue Beads, and luckily some of my other purchases matched my blue/green theme. I finally fussed at the wire enough to get it going the way I wanted, then added two strands of green glass beads. The holes are offset so the strands have a "juggle-y" sort of vibe as well. I finished it off with a simple wire toggle (thanks to a quick reference review of Kerry Bogert's awesome book "Totally Twisted" - see http://www.kabsconcepts.com/ to get your own copy).

Two...I have to get my Bead Soup goodies in the mail for partner Megan http://megjustsaying.blogspot.com/. You were supposed to put a hint of what you are sending on your blog, but I read this after I posted a picture of the entire contents of what I am sending to Megan on the Bead Soup Flickr page...sigh...I am such a dork! So it now 12:20 AM and I have to work tomorrow and attempt to remain awake, so check out all the Bead Soup pictures here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BeadSoupBlogParty In June you'll start to see what everyone is making out of their new treasures.
