Calling all extended DC area jewelry freaks/craft nerds!

Now that I have the kids summer schedule set - Erika wants to take soccer with Emma, but only on these two weeks, Morgan wants to take drama with Michael, but only at this time, Emma E wants to invite Emma to sleep away camp, but decide NOW because it's filling up, etc, etc - it's time for Mommy to put some fun stuff on her calendar.  Even though I work year round, there is something about summer which means that extra fun should be planned and forget about all those chores lurking on the to do list.

So here are some ideas - let me know if you would be interested!

June 22nd:  Rings-n-Things Bead Tour, 1-4 p.m. (a week day - but worth an afternoon off don't you think?) - Best Western Tysons Westpark Hotel, McLean VA Details HERE.  There is a great restaurant called Clyde's right around the corner that would be a good post-show stop.

June 25th:  River Festival on the Occoquan and Mixed Metal Earring Class at Off the Beadin Path, a bead store in historic Occoquan, VA.  The class is from 11-1, fee is $30 and is taught by Denise Bush.

July 16th:  "Enamel Explorations...Suitable for Framing" with Barbara Lewis at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis, MD.  10-3:30 p.m., class is $90 and supplies are $35.  Go HERE to sign up.  The write up for the class sounds awesome:  "Want to take your enameling to the next level?  It's all about decoration in this workshop.  Work with liquid enamel, ceramic underglazes, ceramic overglazes, decals, fused and reticulated silver, millefiore/murrini...it's all here"  I have no idea what "reticulated silver" is but it sounds cool.  And after class it's just a quick jaunt to the waterfront for crab dip and drinks :-)

July 23rd/24th:  Bring Your Latest Project to Share at my house in Alexandria.  It's an event I just made up.  We can talk, create, kids can come along, BBQ and enjoy some beverages.  If you have never played with lamp working or torch fire enameling I will be happy to share my toys - as long as you know that I am still a beginner.

August 21st/22nd or 27th/28th:  Meet Up in Old Town Alexandria.  Our target can be Potomac Bead Company and Arts Afire Glass Gallery or just window shop until it's time to have something delish.  Potomac Bead offers tons of classes but they don't have August dates published yet.

You've probably noticed that "eat" and "beverages" occur during all events :-)  Leave a comment if you'd like to join in, I hope to get a chance to spend some non-virtual time with my blog friends!

p.s. - Here are some favorite pictures from last summer at the pool to help get you in the mood for fun:
