Oh you know you played with them as a kid - I sure did.  Did you know that Shrinky Dinks still exist?  And I learned from Kathe at Just Something I Made (one of my fave blogs) that they make a version that you can use with your ink jet printer.  Over the last couple of months she's posted two projects using printable Shrinky Dinks that I had to try.  One was a tiny version of sewing cards...

Another project (which also appeared in Country Living Magazine) used old postcards and stamps to make charms for a fun, vintage inspired necklace...

My daughter liked the puppy idea but wanted to find her own picture to use, and here is how her's came out:

I decided to try Kathe's Country Living project which she made using scanned versions of flea market ephemera (she's great about free downloads) and made these:

I think I need a different hole punch.  These came out okay but when I tried the string sewing cards the holes were out of control.  Darn!  That will require a trip to Michaels :-)

  3. I love that you and your daughter are doing these projects together. I'll have to check out the article in Country Home! I almost picked up a box of Shrinky Dinks the other day for one of my sons...it's been years since we made those!
