I love me a challenge - especially when is means I "have to" buy some new beads from a great new shop. In this case, Lorelei laid down the challenge, and Stinky Dog Beads provided this awesome collection (picture from Lorelei's bog).
I loved it all! As soon as I saw the garnet chain I had chandelier earrings on the brain. You know when you have an idea but can't get to your jewelry making stuff, so you think about it lots, and then finally you can get to work and bam! It comes together like it was always meant to be?
(Maybe that's just me :-)).
What do you think?
I was on an earring roll, and didn't want to use the cones and the double hole beads in a typical way...
The tassels aren't as heavy as you'd think - I didn't get crazy with the suede specifically because I didn't want them to pull your ears off :-)
These are a little on the long side - but shortening the wire shouldn't be too hard. I love all the bright colors of Soft Flex Bead Wire, and use it in earrings a lot.
Then I got to playing with some of the other supplies, and a stack of vintage buttons I got from the Gatchellville Store. Loved how the button part came out, and the rest fell in to place. I love the crane clasp, don't you?
Finally, I had to do something with the remaining garnet chain, and decided to make it part of this simple necklace with an extra large pearl.
I ended up using everything - loved it all - except the bumble bee. I a sure he'll end up in something fun soon! Check out all the others that are part of the fun blog hop:
Thanks Lorelei for a GREAT challenge!
