Wow! The 52nd week of posting pictures with Sally in the lead. I am nothing if not dogged. I'm posting a tad early this week since we'll be out soon on a quick ski trip.
Having this weekly prompt was so great - it helped me post at least something new once a week, even when I really didn't have much else to say and/or the time to sit down and write it. 2014 will be full of changes - ones that I hope will allow for more creative time - I can't wait! And I'm looking forward to continuing on the Focus on Life path. But how to say good bye? As has happened often on this once-a-week journey, an idea came out of nowhere just in time.
I am saying good bye today to a much used set of dishes - white Fiesta ware that Greg and I bought when we were first married - 18 years ago! I wanted all white so that it wouldn't clash with table cloths and place mats, and I was all about being neat and orderly.
Emma and Greg have amused themselves putting them in color order, and I was scolded by Emma for not putting the mugs in the cabinet correctly. I said that she was welcome to be in charge of putting away clean dishes permanently and she wisely ducked out of the kitchen quickly :-)
I'm a fan of fiestaware as well. It's what we registered for as well. I went with all shades of blue and I still love that, but I adore the Shamrock green and want to incorporate that into the mix soon. However, now that I see your full spectrum of Fiesta I can't help but second-guess myself and think that perhaps leaning toward ALL the colors would be fabulous as well.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new bright pops of color and have a marvelous New Year!!
And looking back at the comment I just wrote makes me wonder if I could have used the term 'as well' more often. . .sigh.
ReplyDeleteOh I love these bright and cheery colors. I still have my country blue plates from when we got married in 1982! I think it's time for a change, but wow the Fiestaware is not cheap!
ReplyDeleteWe love coloured tableware too, but it's mot easy to get anything other than plain white over here.
ReplyDeleteWhite may be chic but it doesn't do it for us. Your new colours look fantastic!
Beautiful - my dishes are assorted colors too and I love them
ReplyDeleteLove colourful Fiesta dishes! Goodbye plain white, hello to lemongrass and flamingo and peacock and sunflower and lapis and tangerine and plum and scarlet and turquoise and paprika and cobalt. *smile*
ReplyDeleteI approve your decision to switch. I would love a whole set of fiesta....but the original stuff. I think that might be impossible at this date.
ReplyDeleteGood choice on the new dishes. My first set was white as well but I didn't pick them. I'm glad that you will be joining us.
ReplyDeleteLove all the colors of your new Fiesta Ware. Amazing how our tastes change. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteLove fiesta ware! My wedding china was ivory... my day to day china is black and white... however I do have a set of Naif which I think I should use as black and white is getting boring... I'm sure china is like art you shouldn't buy it to match your decor! Best wishes in 2014!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, I have loved Fiesta for many years as well! Just this past summer I started collecting a few pieces, as I was also saying goodbye to a set I'd owned for about 10 years (of other stuff). Love the look of your cupboard!
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny! I too was all about the white when I first got married so it would go with anything. I finally surrendered them about 3 years ago when I realized I no longer had a full set. It was replaced with a colorful set of burgundy, navy's, olives, mustards and eggplants. Happy 2014 to you!
ReplyDeleteOh - I do love your Fiesta Ware. All the colors are just fabulous and so bright and cheery! Great, colorful way to say Goodbye to the white ones!! Wishing you much happiness in 2014!!
ReplyDeleteAh, that's a beautiful change! I think we can all use more colour in our lives. I know I couldn't have the whole rainbow since the blues would all be used and the yellow would be pristine :)
ReplyDeleteooooh love the new dishes - so, well... festive! I also have white dishes as I wanted them to match with everything ... and after 20 years of marriage they are a bit worse for wear! Hope you had a wonderful ski trip and wishing you a wonderful 2014!
