Sally over at The Studio Sublime invited us to join a really interesting challenge - she enameled ceramic beads, 2 sets per color, in the Pantone Spring 2012 colors.  I got starfish, and some beautiful accent beads in cockatoo.  I love challenges because they give you lots of ways to get creative.  I thought it might be cool to make some of my own beads to go along.  I also experimented with making head pins, and because it was handy, the head pins were on really chunky steel wire.  While I normally have a strict rule against wearing gray and beige together (I don't know why...), I loved how the steel wire looked with the driftwood.  Please forgive the broken head pin - that's the downside of not having my kiln yet (it's in the mail!)  Once I manhandled the steel wire the way I wanted I decided to keep the rest of the necklace simple with some sari silk in rich teal.

  1. Wow Elisabeth, your necklace is really cool! I love the head pins and the glass beads you created to go with your enameled beads. The heavy gauge wire look is softened by the silk ribbon. Very nice.
