Currently Reading:  The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine by Michael Lewis.  I am so on top of current events I decided to read what caused our economic woes in 2008.

Just Finished:  I just finished up a cool series of books by Adriana Trigiani that starts with Big Stone Gap, then Big Cherry Holler, Milk Glass Moon and finally Home to Big Stone Gap.  (Big must be a thing with me right now).  Although probably described as romances or chick lit these books are so much more.  Big Stone Gap is a small town in the rural cola mining region of southern Virginia.  The main character, Ave Maria, is the town pharmacist and self described spinster, with a rich cast of characters in her life.  The various story lines that flow in and out of Ave Maria's life are written with such genuine care that reading the series was incredibly enjoyable.  The internal dialogue of Ave Maria sounds so similar to my own that is was comforting in an odd way.

Previously:  I laughed myself silly reading Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson.  Jenny Lawson writes regularly at The Bloggess and I really can't explain why she is soooooo appealing.  She swears like a sailor and have a very irreverent sense of humor.  But there is much more to her, and I have followed some of her weekly links to other great corners of the internet.  Definitely worth checking out if you need to laugh out loud in public inappropriately, like I did, riding the Metro.
